Work for Squirrel
Reckon you've got what it takes to join our team? Then this page is for you.
Before arriving here, hopefully you’ve taken a good look around our website and you have a strong sense of what Squirrel is all about, in terms of our work, our brand and our people. Maybe you know us well already and you’re just keeping an eye on the current opportunities that we have available.

At Squirrel, we’re all about making a difference for Kiwi everyday. So, if you are thinking of applying to work at Squirrel, then please be sure to tell us up front: what difference do you think you would make?
"Just because it’s always been that way, doesn’t mean it always has to be."
We’re setting out to change the game of the financial services industry in NZ. You’ll find at Squirrel a company built on authenticity and dependent upon it’s people. A culture that doesn’t just respect curiosity, fairness and freedom but lives it. And in a community where the path you choose is your own, the places you can go are limitless.

It’s not only the work that defines a great company but also the people
We have a really strong culture and people often comment on our genuinely friendly and informal style. This, combined with a real passion for challenging the status quo, makes Squirrel an exciting place to work.
Squirrel is one of the most awarded mortgage brokers in NZ. We strongly believe in playing fair and doing right, by ourselves and our clients. We’re always looking for like-minded people so if this is you, get in touch by emailing work@squirrel.co.nz.
You don’t always need to make big gestures to make meaningful changes
Squirrel choose selective causes and charities to support throughout the year such as Shoebox Christmas and Jammies for June. We listen to our people and are happy to get behind causes they are passionate about.
We provide 2 Squirrel Days in addition to annual leave per year for our people to use for their own wellbeing, or that of others.
We also provide life insurance, maternity leave and subsidised parking to help make things that little bit easier for our Squirrels.
We are committed to providing our own people and clients with an inclusive workplace and service. We recognise that we are not perfect. And we are up for as many uncomfortable chats as it takes.

We believe in doing our bit
Whilst we’re not a big carbon producer, we believe in doing our bit to be green. We’ve come up with a set of core actions to reduce our carbon footprint. Our Sale St office is now solar powered and we have taken measures to eliminate as much waste as possible from our day to day operations.
Lots of Squirrels want to make a difference and our team is dedicated to maintaining our stance on this.
We also have a policy of refurbishing and recycling our used Macbooks and phones for staff to provide for their families.

This is a senior role with real visibility, working closely with the Board and Audit & Risk Committee, and influencing how risk and compliance shows up across the business. Find out more about the role.
If you’re an experienced financial services risk and compliance leader, comfortable operating at Board level and equally comfortable getting into the detail, we'd love to hear from you - just send your CV to work@squirrel.co.nz.
Property Finance Associate
